Vineyards

La Marca di San Michele owns 12 hectares being converted to organic land.

Six hectares of this are designated to Verdicchio.
The vineyards hold both a south-north and east-west position with gentle slopes and steep inclines of mostly clay and limestone soils.

Our intention is to move towards an organic agriculture with the utmost respect for the environment, those who till the land and the end consumer.

The vineyards are growing in grass and no pesticides or antibotritic chemicals are used. When necessary we prefer to manually work the land rather than use products that would deplete the soil’s nutrients.

We believe that excessive yields always compromise quality so our production never exceeds 7,000 kg of grapes per hectare. The product specification allows a maximum of 11,000 kg of grapes per hectare for Verdicchio Superiore.

Of utmost importance is the integrity of the grapes from cultivation to harvest and this remains one of our principle objectives.
